The California Carbon Monoxide Awareness Poster Contest is sponsored by The California State Firefighters' Association, Safe Kids California, and Kidde to help raise awareness of carbon monoxide (CO) safety and California's new carbon monoxide alarm law. Effective July 1, 2011, California's New Carbon Monoxide Safety Law requires all California single-family dwellings that contain a fossil-fuel burning heater, appliance, fireplace or attached garage to be equipped with a carbon monoxide alarm on every level of the house and near sleeping areas. Effective dates are set for other type of dwellings. CO is known as the "Silent Killer" because it is an odorless, colorless and tasteless gas that can poison its victims with severe and chronic brain, lung and heart injuries and is the leading cause of accidental poisoning deaths in the United States.
The poster contest is open to children ages 6 to 12 years old living in California with a release form completed and signed by parent or guardian to be included with the entry. The poster must be entrant's own original artwork and must include information about the theme - Carbon Monoxide (CO) Safety and California's New CO Safety Law. The poster must be no smaller than 8.5" x 11" and no larger than 9" x 12" and can be created using markers, crayons, watercolors, or colored ink or pencil. The contest started on June 27, 2011 and ends on September 2, 2011 (post marked). Three winners will be awarded a Nintendo Wii, a pizza party with the Boys and Girls Club or a $200 donation to the Club, and a donation of 100 carbon monoxide alarms to the Safe Kids Coalition closest to winners' location. Full contest rules and submission details may be found here.
Good luck and let your creativity begin!

Baby Brezza is committed to providing convenient, high quality, and safe baby feeding products. The launch of the patented Baby Brezza One Step Baby Food Maker has allowed busy moms, dad, and caretakers to efficiently make homemade baby food without any hassle. Accessories to complement the baby food maker include Baby Brezza storage system, cutting board, spatula, cleaning brushes, grain basket, and kitchen wipes.
The Baby Brezza One Step Baby Food Maker is a dream come true for me - steam and blend all in one! It's about time I make some homemade baby food for Baby Hsu. I have been feeding him Gerber baby food (fruits and vegetable) because it was just more convenient and time-saving. The only food I make for Baby Hsu is porridge with meat and frozen peas and carrots. I had to force myself to make this because I knew he needed the nutrients from the meat and I didn't quite trust commercially-made baby food that contained meat. As someone who's not a very good cook, the thought of making baby food from scratch is challenging and burdensome. With Baby Brezza One Step Baby Food Maker, nutritious baby food may be prepared in as little as fifteen minutes. The BPA-free and Phthalate-free bowl (which holds up to 2.5 cups) and blade are dishwasher safe. The multi-functional machine allows you to choose from multiple cook time options (steam and blend, steam only, blend only, reheat, defrost) to a manual blending option. The Baby Brezza Cutting Board is a nice complement to the baby food maker. The 8.625" x 12" cutting board allows you to transfer the diced food from the cutting board to the baby food maker without spilling. What's also nice about it are the lines on the cutting board that serves as a guide for cutting food into an ideal size for steaming.
