Organically Grown - Winter Collection Review

Organically Grown believes in your right to affordable, safe, stylish, high-quality organic products from apparel for the entire family and home decor, to personal care items.  Their apparel are made from organic cotton, grown without the use of toxic pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.  They are proud to be a part of the solution for a healthier environment by supporting the organic farming community.

WHY ORGANIC?

According to the Organic Exchange, over 456 million pounds of pesticides are applied onto conventional cotton each year, of which seven are on the Environmental Protection Agency’s list of the top ten pesticides which are known, probable, or likely carcinogens. Organic cotton is grown without the use of toxic pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, making it healthier for both the environment and the farmers. With products by ORGANICALLY GROWN, there is no need to compromise between your budget and your conscience.

Organically Grown just launched their holiday line - their winter collection.  Their collection is lined up with gown, hat, and blanket sets, and a variety of infant outfit sets, including three-piece organic bodysuit sets at only $20.  One of my favorite from the collection is the Organic Cotton Boys "Polar Bear Stripes" Coverall.  The embroidered polar bear rests on the right side of the tummy, while the Organically Grown logo rests on the upper left.  I love the layered look of this long sleeve coverall with the contrasting fabrics.  What's nice is that this outfit comes with a decorative padded hanger.  Sizes are available in NB/3mo/6mo/9mo.  With the apparel being organic, I can rest assure that Baby Hsu's skin is safe from toxins and chemicals.

Baby Hsu will be cozy and dressed for the holiday spirit this season with the Organic Cotton Boys "Polar Bear Stripes" Coverall, which also makes a great Christmas gift (HSUper Parents-Approved)!

BUY IT!  The Organic Cotton Boys "Polar Bear Stripes" Coverall may be purchased for $22.00 at Organically Grown.

Corner TV Stands from CSN Stores

About two years ago, Hubby and I were looking at the model homes for a new condominium complex in the area.  In the family room, the TV and the corner TV stand were located in the right corner of the room.  I've always thought that having the TV placed in the corner would be a weird layout, not to mention hard to finding a nice corner TV stand.  But, there are some rooms that only allow for a TV to be placed in the corner and it just works.  I find it challenging to arrange the furniture so that people watching the TV may be comfortable.

CSN Stores 200+ online stores carry a variety of corner TV stands to accommodate your room's design and style.  Currently, they're offering an additional 10% off on orders $699+ with the promo code TVDec10.  If I had to place our TV in one of our rooms, I would choose the SEI Thomas Corner Media 42" TV Stand in Black.

Disclaimer:  This post was written in anticipation of an upcoming review for CSN Stores.

Guest Post by Emily Patterson of Primrose Schools - Little Signers

Versatility and the ability to communicate articulately in a variety of ways to the widest possible audience; are two keys to surviving in a tilted economic system in which opportunities to achieve a decent standard of living will be limited. This includes bilingual ability as well as the ability to communicate in non-verbal ways for the benefit of the disabled – primarily the deaf.

Additionally, a growing shortage of qualified interpreters fluent in American Sign Language has led to more career opportunities – and if current trends continue, it's likely that skilled ASL interpreters will have little problem securing lucrative employment in a society where such a commodity is destined to be in short supply.

Signing Before They Can Speak

Research has shown that the best time to educate children in different languages and forms of communication are ages 2 to 5. This includes going beyond the spoken word (though it is an optimal time for children to learn a second language); many young children have an aptitude for signing as well.  Incorporating sign language into your child's education can be done at home by the parent, or recently many child care programs have incorporated it into their curriculums.

It may seem odd but, as you may know, many indigenous peoples around the world, including American Indian nations, have used sign language for centuries to facilitate communication with other tribes with whom they do not share a language. Some paleontologists and anthropologists theorize that Neanderthals – who apparently lacked the vocal mechanism to produce many spoken words – depended a great deal upon hand gestures to communicate.

In fact, recent research suggests that sign language is innate. In 2003, an article published by Boulder Daily Camera gave strong evidence that babies as young as six months old communicate with their hands:

"...by 6 to 7 months, babies can remember a sign. At eight months, children
can begin to imitate gestures and sign single words. By 24 months, children
can sign compound words and full sentences. They say sign language reduces
frustration in young children by giving them a means to express themselves
before they know how to talk." (Glarion, 2003)

The author also cites study funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development demonstrating that young children who are taught sign language at an early age actually develop better verbal skills as they get older. The ability to sign has also helped parents in communicating with autistic children; one parent reports that "using sign language allowed her to communicate with her [autistic] son and minimized his frustration...[he now] has an advanced vocabulary and excels in math, spelling and music" (Glarion, 2003).

The Best Time To Start

Not only does early childhood education in signing give pre-verbal youngsters a way to communicate, it can also strengthen the parent-child bond – in addition to giving children a solid foundation for learning a skill that will serve them well in the future. The evidence suggests that the best time to start learning ASL is before a child can even walk – and the implications for facilitating the parent-child relationship are amazing.

CSN Review - Emerilware Cast Iron 12" Skillet and Flirty Aprons

What does CSN Stores have in store for you this time?  I am always delighted to review products from the millions of brand name products that CSN Stores offer from their 200+ online stores!  At CSN Stores, you may find products for the entire household - entertainment centers, Corelle dinnerware sets, end tables, upholstered headboards, and much more

No matter where I am, I would always love to look fashionable.  With the Flirty Aprons Women's Apron in Scarlet Blossom, I am able to look great in the kitchen cooking (or at least trying to cook).  The apron is made from 100% cotton with long waist ties to be able to tie a bow in the front or back.  The design is inspired by magnolia and aster flowers in white, black, and red with a solid black inner lining.  It is a one size fits all, where you may adjust using the neck and waist ties.  I especially love the pleated ruffles on the bottom of the apron skirt because it adds an elegant touch.

Hubby loves using the Emerilware Cast Iron 12" Skillet to cook his ribeye steak.  Ever since he learned the "restaurant" technique for a cooking juicy steak, he never turned away from his cast iron skillet.  The surface of the pan is pre-seasoned and is oven safe for up to 600F.  It retains heat well and is great for browning, searing, frying, and sauteing.  The cast iron skillet weights approximately 6 lb.  Remember, do not use cold water and soap to wash the skillet.  Here are instructions on cleaning a cast iron skillet (http://www.wikihow.com/Clean-a-Cast-Iron-Skillet).

With a Flirty Apron and Emerilware Cast Iron 12" Skillet, I am all set to cook a holiday meal (HSUper Parents-Approved)!

BUY IT!  The Emerilware Cast Iron 12" Skillet may be purchased for $24.95 (free shipping) and the Flirty Aprons Women's Apron in Scarlet Blossom for $29.95 at CSN Stores.

GIVEAWAY - $5 GC Amazon.com Sponsored by Bestcovery (CLOSED)

Bestcovery is a one-stop site to find the best of everything.  They research the best products and services, providing concise and easy to understand recommendations for a variety of needs, uses and budgets.  Based on unbiased selections not influenced by advertisers, gifts, freebies, or payments of any kind, the products and services listed are determined by two different methods - experts or crowdsourcing and technology.
Before I purchase an item, especially a big ticket item, I would research for the best brand and value for a specific product.  For example, I just purchased a Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS Point and Shoot Digital Camera.  Upon making my decision to purchase that particular camera, I researched online and compared the specs and price between several compact digital cameras.  It was pretty time consuming to visit the numerous sites to do the comparison, when I can just visit Bestcovery.com and they already have the comparison done for you.  Bestcovery reviews and ranks a number of products, ranging from the Best Dishwashers to the Best Jogging Stroller.

Tommee Tippee Fall Blog Tour - Travel Bottle and Food Warmer Set Review

Tommee Tippee is recognized as the #1 infant and toddler feeding brand in Great Britain.  Since 1965, Tommee Tippee has earned a reputation for its innovative products that promote natural development at every age, stage, and feeding need.  Tommee Tippee is known for their two lines - Closer to Nature and Explora.  Closer to Nature baby bottles and accessories focus on the infant feeding market.  Explora toddler feeding cups and mealtime accessories is designed to help children learn how to wean.

Tommee Tippee's Travel Bottle and Food Warmer Set, from their Closer to Nature line, is a handy item to have when traveling with tots.  The set, BPA- and phthalate-free, comes with a thermal flask that conveniently fits in the matching carafe.  It's great for on the go feeding because no electricity is needed.  The thermal flask keeps the water warm, which may be poured into the warming carafe to heat up bottles or jars.

Tommee Tippee products are available exclusively at Babies R' Us and Toys R' Us in stores nationwide and online at BabiesRUs.com.  The Travel Bottle and Food Warmer Set may be purchased for $19.99. Follow Tommee Tippee North America on Facebook and @TommeeTippee_NA on Twitter for current promotions and updates.

Baby Hsu will definitely appreciate the warm milk and food when Mommy totes along the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Travel Bottle and Food Warmer Set (HSUper Parents-Approved)!

Upholstered Headboards from CSN Stores

When Hubby and I were shopping for our first bed after purchasing our first house, we were debating between wooden headboards versus upholstered headboards.  Since we have purchased a wooden headboard for the bed in the guest room, we decided we wanted something different for our master bedroom.  Thus, we purchased a simple earth-toned upholstered headboard and frame for our king size bed.  The great thing about upholstered headboards is that you can match almost any color piece of furniture (night stands, dresser, etc.) with it.  We ended up matching espresso colored night stands and dresser with our bed.

CSN Stores 200+ online stores carry a wide selection of upholstered headboards, from traditional to contemporary styles.  For our next upholstered headboard, I would consider the headboards from CSN Stores pictured above.  Well, I don't think Hubby would appreciate the floral upholstered headboards, but I'm sure he'll agree with the others.  My favorite would be the Global Views Quilted King Size Bed with Ivory Leather Headboard because it's very chic and modern.
